Year 7 students raise money for the Pakistan Earthquake Appeal
Year 7 students at Patrician Brothers’ College, Blacktown held a cake stall today to raise money for the Pakistan Earthquake Appeal. The boys have been made aware in their Geography classes over past weeks that natural disasters have devastated different world communities and that action can make a difference.
Today’s effort was a social justice initiative where the boys brought the goodies and in some cases made them, set up the stall and sold the tasty stock to other students. Year 7 have also written to the various embassies to express their empathy for the victims of disaster. Students were delighted when an embassy acknowledged their outreach by reply!
Later this week the entire college will have a gold coin mufti day for the Pakistan Earthquake Appeal. These activities are in accordance with the College’s Social Justice Outreach which has also supported local needs through the Salvation Army, the St. Vincent de Paul Society and service on the Vinnies Van, an initiative to provide nourishment for the homeless which is manned by volunteer senior students at night.
